From June 1 to 6, a delegation from the city of Jinan visited Serbia and Bulgaria. During the visit, the delegation held in-depth exchanges with representatives from government departments, business associations, universities, enterprises, and Chinese institutions abroad. A series of promotion events and industry matchmaking meetings were held to advance multiple cooperation projects, accelerating the development of Jinan into a modern socialist provincial capital that is strong, innovative, high-quality, affluent, beautiful, and high-level.

　　Liu Qiang attended the launch ceremony of the Franz-Joseph Bridge project in Novi Sad, supporting Shandong Hi-Speed Group’s efforts to expand its global presence. He also held talks with officials from Inđija City and Mettler Toledo Group to deepen China-Europe freight train cooperation and broaden international logistics channels. In addition, Liu met with the Assistant Minister of Education of Serbia and the head of the Belgrade College of Applied Technical Sciences to promote the signing of intercollegiate cooperation agreements and unveiled a center for the promotion and application of traditional Chinese medicine techniques.

Enhancing Sister-City Relations to Boost High-Level Openness

　　Liu Qiang held official meetings with Žarko Mićin, Mayor of Novi Sad, Serbia, and Galina Stoyanova, Mayor of Kazanlak, Bulgaria. Taking the opportunity of building a new-era China-Serbia community with a shared future, Jinan and Novi Sad signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friendly Cooperation. Meanwhile, roses served as a cultural link to comprehensively deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields between Jinan and Kazanlak.

 Promoting the City and Building High-Standard Platforms to Showcase New Strengths

During the visit, the “Choose Jinan, Win the Future” China (Jinan)–Serbia Economic, Cultural, Tourism, and Agricultural Exchange & Cooperation Promotion Conference was held at the China Cultural Center in Belgrade. At the event, Liu Qiang highlighted Jinan’s development potential and rich historical and cultural heritage, shared cooperation opportunities in the fields of trade, agriculture, culture, and tourism, and unveiled the China Jinan Products Serbia Exhibition and Sales Center.

The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Serbia and the Serbia Branch of the Bank of China to exchange views on deepening cooperation between Jinan and Serbia.
